Hello everyone. Since this time last year I have become increasingly aware that digital services in Michigan City are not adequate enough to serve the needs of our citizens and guests. That is why my company South Shore Media exists, and why it launched 'Soul of Michigan City' (http://soulofmichigancity.com). It is not enough to just launch and cross the fingers. Real work must be done to make that happen by combining as much of MC's information as possible.

I found myself in the midst of accomplishing a dream that has played in my mind for many many years: I was listening to the host, of the "New Faces of Comedy" showcase at the Edge Comedy Club in Chicago, introduce me to a full room of Chicago comedy fans. The set went on, the laughs came, and my dream was fulfilled. As customary with comics in a showcase type environment, the mingling following a show began and we all started sharing our background, hopes, dreams, accomplishments, credits, and as always the case with comics, we all trashed each other in a perfectly acceptable and expected way when comics meet. Among the banter one comic asked where I was from. Here's a transcript of the conversation as I recall it, with a bit of license taken for entertainment purposes, after all I'm a performer, I can't just tell a story I have to perform a story.

So, after putting some more time into the site, I thought I'd get everyone up to speed on what's been done:
- First, I changed the menu links that didn't have any real content to point to a message requesting help.
- There is a boat load of new events in the calender; mostly concerning civic meetings, but also a few band performances and other stuff.
- I started pounding pavement and am trying to get around to visiting as many restaurants and businesses as possible. You can see there are now some restaurant profiles complete with maps, info, specials, and menus. Much more to come.
- The first round of content contributors have started to trickle in and create accounts - but we still need a lot more people.
- There are a few new games in the arcade. They're called Cover Orange, Planarity, and The Gun Game - great time wasters while you're on the clock.
- I'm also trying to get those in the entertainment field on board as well. Comedians and musical performers will be able to provide some interesting flavor to the mix. Later, stage theater will start to unfold as well.
- Lastly, I published a rough ward map in the civics section. That was a definate pain to produce as I had that tiny low-res picture from the eMichiganCity site to go off of. It will get better though.

Hi there. Glad you could make it. I'll assume you've read into the latest CB issue and have some idea of what we're all about here. Feel free to browse around but keep in mind most content is scarce at this point in time. In the few weeks that CB is on hiatus you will see content start to blossom. We can only put so much up ourselves at this point, and are currently recruiting people to do some writing about the things they are passionate about. If you are a leader in a church group, club, political party, sports league, or anything else - drop us a line. We'd love to hear from you and keep people updated on what you do. You needn't have experience in writing either - if you can type that's good enough for us.
The 'About So!MC' link at the top right will give you further background in the development and philosophy behind this project. |

This is the first bit of update information. Actually quite useless at present, but it's here so I can start filling in the menu items with more than fluff.
Here is what I have done: (though So!MC is never done)
- Business Directory
- Arcade
- Photo Gallery
- Classifieds
- Wiki
- Social Networking
